Peer Education
The adolescents in the community are covered through Peer Education (PE) Programme. The selected Peer Educators ensure that adolescents benefit from regular and sustained peer education covering all six themes of RKSK.
Himachal Pradesh has a school-based Peer Educator Programme. Under the PE programme, two students (one boy and one girl) from the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th class shall be selected as Peer Educators in senior secondary school and from 2 each from 8th, 9th, and 10th class in high schools.
The programme shall be implemented in Pukhri, Samote, Kihar blocks of Chamba, Rohanda, Kataula, Padhar, Baldwara, bag said blocks of Mandi and Mashobra, and Matiana blocks of Shimla District.
Adolescent Friendly Club Meetings
There is a provision in Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakaram (RKSK) guidelines to constitute Adolescent Friendly Clubs (AFCs) under the overall guidance of FHW (Female Health Worker) at sub-center level.
AFCs will be constituted to discuss the various issues as per thematic sessions in Peer Education, to plan upcoming sessions, to organize activities like declamation, drawing competition, skits, debates etc for Peer Educators and adolescents.
