National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP)
Tuberculosis is one of the very old diseases known. It is a major health problem in the developing world. The problem is worsening due to HIV/AIDS and an increase in MDR TB cases throughout the world. National TB Control Programme was started in 1962 and later on converted to the Revised National TB Control Programme. In HP RNTCP started in district Hamirpur as a pilot project in 1995, and the whole of the state was covered by 2002. Programmatic Management of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (PMDT) program for the treatment of Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) TB started in 2011 in HP. In 2020 the central TB Division GoI has changed the name of the programme i.e National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
