Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
Mukhyamantri Nirog Yojna in HP - A way forward to combat all NCDs and associated risk factors collectively as an efficient and cost effective approach in Himachal Pradesh : Keeping in view the increasing load of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and the associated risk factors the Government of Himachal Pradesh has started a comprehensive program called Mukhyamantri Norog Yojna since November 2018 to address the issue in all ages as a life cycle approach. The scheme started operation from 1st April 2019 onward. The key mandate of the scheme is risk reduction, health promotion, screening and management of NCDs with special focus on 18-30 age groups which are more vulnerable to the common risk factors like tobacco, alcohol, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity. GOI has also launched a population based NCD screening program for +30 population which focuses on Diabetes, Hypertension and three common cancers only. GOI has started many programs (more than 10) to address NCDs but the vertical approaches are not able to give desired outcomes due to resource constrains.
