National Deworming Day
In order to reduce the load of intestinal worms and related morbidity in the State, National Deworming Day is observed in two rounds every year. First-round on 1st May and 2nd round on 1st November.
Objective :
To deworm all children between 1 year to 19 years of age group whether living in cities or in villages, studying in Government and Private Schools or out of Schoolchildren in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education, and quality of life.
Activity:
Tablet Albendazole is administered on a single day through the platform of schools and Anganwadi centers and Left out children are covered on fixed Mop up day.
Soil-Transmitted Helminthiasis (STH) follow-up prevalence survey was conducted in the State of Himachal Pradesh in the month of October 2018. The findings from the survey show a significant drop in worm prevalence that has been seen for the first time in India.
