MOTHER ABSOLUTE AFFECTION (MAA)

Adequate nutrition and good health care are the most important aspects of a child’s life. There is a considerable burden of childhood undernutrition and under-five mortality in Himachal Pradesh. (As per UNICEF Rapid Survey of Children report 2014).

Nature’s way to nurture life by breastfeeding is an important child survival intervention. Breastfeeding satisfies all the needs of child nourishment, warmth, love, and security.

Breastfeeding also reduces childhood diarrhea episodes by half and respiratory infection episodes by one-third. It saves health care costs. Good communication and advocacy for promoting social and behavior change on exclusive breastfeeding will enable mothers to successfully breastfeed.

MAA program is an initiative by the Health Department to improve the nutrition of children by refocusing on breastfeeding and Infant Young Child Feeding Practices.

Let us make BREASTFEEDING A COMMITMENT NOT AN OPTION.
